New Halls in our Casino
The festive season got bigger at the Casino di Venezia this year with the opening of new halls. Thus the 19th December will be another hallmark in the Casino’s history and also an important anniversary.
The new halls inaugurated on the 19th of December, are situated on ground floor level and host a new Jackpot Room and a Poker Room. The new slots area also includes a smoking room.
The Poker Room is 230 square metres and has already been popular with Italian poker players who see it as a big attraction. The 1st International Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament was held mid December and Casino di Venezia hosted more than 300 poker players, mainly Italians, among them, ex Italy international goalkeeper Stefano Tacconi.
The new Jackpot Room the biggest one in Malta and Italy too. “We are always attracting more Italian people to Malta and to Casino di Venezia” said Francesca Orlandi who is the Administrative Director at Casino di Venezia. During the opening party to which more than 1500 guests were invited, she said that in the past 6 years more than 10,000 foreigners came to Malta to play at Casino di Venezia. “With the new amenities we have this number is set to increase, especially for poker tournaments for which we have already a lot of interest from abroad”.
The Texas Hold’em Poker is considered to be a sport in Italy, and albeit in Malta there are 4 Casinos, this niche market was never catered for. Thus Casino di Venezia is keeping up with times and is giving the opportunity to foreign players, mainly Italians who are passionate on this sport to come here and enjoy their favourite sport.
Besides the opening of new halls, Francesca Orlandi also announced the Casino’s new opening hours. Every day Casino di Venezia will be open as from 10am till 4am and on weekends it will remain open until 6am. More information on the opening hours and all new that’s happening down at Casino can be found on the "How to reach us" page.
There is more news at the Captain’s Palace since in other floors new games have been installed and a new smoking area with more tables is now available. The inauguration party was a great success and all had fun. “It’s a nice period for Casino di Venezia and it augurs well for 2008” exclaimed Francesca Orlandi whilst wishing all their clients a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.

Maltese Goddess by Labro - Entices Casino di Venezia
Famous for its ambience, Casino’ di Venezia Restaurant is the home to some of the best paintings of the Maltese Goddess by Raphael Labro. With its unique site and sumptuous setting, the Casino the Venezia Restaurant is the perfect background to the colourful paintings of the Maltese Goddess.
The theme of the paintings fit well the heavenly food Casino di Venezia clients enjoy at the restaurant now surrounded by divinity. This other exhibition is yet another initiative by Casino the Venezia to give more space for cultural and artistic activities.
RAPHAEL LABRO‘s exhibition in titled “AWAKENING” was inaugurated, with a movingly eloquent address by H.E. Jean-Marc Rives, the French Ambassador to Malta on Friday 16th November at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta . A most enticing and glossy colour illustrated catalogue accompanied the show. The Cotoner Hall glowed with Labro’s glorious pictorial visions inspired by Maltese Antiquity goddesses until 25th November when it moved to the CASINO di VENEZIA at the Captain’s Palace, the VITTORIOSA Marina, at the uniquely breathtaking views of Valletta top floor Venezia Restaurant. In presenting the first stage of the “Awakening” exhibition, Dame Francoise Tempra, claimed how, this year, in September, Malta’s heritage proved of international appeal and prestige, since, in Italy, with the September “Labroesque Maltese Goddesses”, at the Galleria Zodiaco in Licata RAPHAEL LABRO received both The Malta Biennale President Award and the Licata City’s Award.
Indeed, at the MCC “Awakening” the international public of art lovers and diplomats was enchanted with the vibrantly dancing or reclining goddesses of the Sun, Elyseum etc.., amongst the works of Raphael Labro as well as the “Exploding Star”, “Neolithic Vision”, and “Mother Earth” smaller canvasses and sculpture by his daughter Princess Lola and his son Captain Morgan ,both recipients of the 2007 Malta Biennale non-competing Certificate “UNDER 18”, Section XIV, on 10th November, presented, at a ceremony at the TEMPRA ACADEMY Cultural Canopy -Villa Tempra, in Mgarr.

It was a great summer indeed at the Casinò di Venezia. The season started off with the
introduction of the new Casinò di Venezia Spumante Brut in July, which
culminated with a big night on August 1 with the celebration of the sixth
anniversary.
Six wonderful years have passed since the Casinò di Venezia opened its doors for
business for the first time down at the Vittoriosa Marina. The plush
environment at the Captain’s Palace was also the perfect setting for many
tourists visiting the casino.
During these months, the casino had thousands of foreign clients. It was an
achievement mentioned by the tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech when he
toured the establishment on the anniversary day.
The Italian singer Orietta Berti was also entertained at the Venezia Restaurant
after touring the casino. Ms Berti was in Malta to take part in a concert last
July and she only had fine words to say about the casino.
“It was a great summer for us”, said Casinò di Venezia assistant director Francesca
Orlandi. “The anniversary party back in August was great, and our clients are
fabulous too”. It was Ms Orlandi’s first summer in Malta.
“We are glad to contribute to this country not only by creating new jobs, but also by
attracting tourists and we look at our thousands of guests as a good
achievement. By far the number of foreign visitors has increased and will
continue to see longer numbers as we are now concentrating on autumn and
winter. We are very happy with how things are moving”, she said.
August 2007 was the best ever for the Casinò di Venezia in terms of cash drop. It was
also a good month for clients who received over Lm600,000 in winnings over the
past weeks. One client won more than Lm12,000 on a jackpot.
The management team is gearing up for the coming months. The casino will soon be
launching its new range of wines from the region of Puglia, Italy
Other events will be launched very soon.

Casinò Di Venezia Spumante Brut launched
The Casinò di Venezia Spumante Brut was launched Wednesday 25th July in a night full of sparkling sensations.
The icy cold Casinò di Venezia Spumante Brut went down well with hundreds of guests who attended the launch party at the Venezia Restaurant Terrace. A swift breeze helped to make the wonderful evening an unforgettable one.
The Spumante Brut is a dry sparkling wine produced in the region of Feudo di Padova, Veneto. Made from the Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca grape variety, the Casinò di Venezia
Spumante Brut has a pale lemon-green colour, hint of yeast, cassis on the nose and redolent aromas of almonds and hazelnuts.
Using the Charmat method, this young effervescent wine is best served at temperatures between 8ºC and 10ºC and can be served as an aperitif or paired with any seafood dish.
Coming from 15 to 20-year-old vines situated in northern Italy, this wine has been fermented in stainless steel vats for its second fermentation and has a 12.50 per cent alcohol content.
Italian oenologist, Gianluca Conserva of Conserva Enologi, has carefully blended Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca and come up with this superb, nutty and elegant spumante.
The Trebbiano grape is Italy’s most commonly planted white grape with neutral flavours that lean towards the dry side with a crisp finish. Malvasia Bianca is also one of Italy’s most widely planted grape varieties in Italy. It offers delightful aromas and flavours of honey ripe pears with hints of allspice, round, sumptuous fruity flavours and a plush texture Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca are therefore the perfect blend for a sparkling evening.
“Hundreds of people, including wine experts and enthusiasts, have tasted our spumante and exclaimed they like it”, Casinò di Venezia assistant director Francesca Orlandi said.
Dining at the Venezia Restaurant will also give everyone the opportunity to taste this magnificent Spumante Brut as a glass will welcome you at your table. Throughout this week, the Casinò di Venezia Spumante Brut will also be available to all those who want to purchase it from the Casinò di Venezia.
The label has been meticulously been designed by Italian top artist Pietro di Girolamo. He depicted the bound goddess on a roulette table holding a glass of spumante.
Ms Orlandi reiterated that the Casinò di Venezia is very proud to present this sparkling wine which adds more plush to the opulent Captain’s Palace in Vittoriosa, which hosts the Casino.
