THE CASINO'S PALACES

CA' VENDRAMIN CALERGI is the most prestigious residence of the Casino Municipale di Venezia S.p.a. It's undoubtley the most beautiful gambling house in the world. Situated on the Canal Grande, it is the first largest Venetian Renaissance Palace. It was built by Andrea Loredan in 1481 and its construction was terminated in 1509 by the architect Mauro Codussi. The name of the palace derived from Vittorio Calergi and from his ancestors, the Vendramins. It was in that period that the palace enjoyed a very excellent reputation. Back in 1614 the Calergis enlarged the palace by building the "Ala Bianca" which marks the garden. The façade stands majestically on the Canal Grand and although it has been built in a classical style its features still give a sense of transparency and purity. In 1882 the famous musician Richard Wagner was given hospitality at the "Ala Bianca" till his death. During this time he composed the score of the "Parsifal".

It was in 1959 that the prestigious Ca' Vendramin Calergi became the residence of the Casino Municipale di Venezia. The charm of the pompous decorated halls adds a magical touch to the green tables and creates a unique background for the amusing nights that only this gambling house knows how to offer to its guests. Some of the most beautiful halls include the "Cuori d'Oro" which is upholstered with real leather and where one can play the "Trente-Quarante" game and the "Sala Regia" which is decorated with inlayed wood where the "Chemin de Fer" is played.
